Hector Bellerin has spoken out following a wave of criticism towards Arsenal in the wake of the side’s 2-1 defeat at Watford.

Troy Deeney accused Arsenal of lacking ‘cojones’ following the Vicarage Road encounter but the Gunners have since defeated Red Star Belgrade Everton in the Europa League and the Premier League respectively.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Norwich in the Carabao Cup, Bellerin defended his team-mates and insisted Arsene Wenger’s men must now do their talking on the pitch.

Asked whether Arsenal’s defeat at Watford had been blown out of proportion, the right-back told Standard Sport: ‘I think it always is with Arsenal. It doesn’t matter how we do.

‘If we win it is always the other team’s fault and when we lose it is always our fault.
